Monica's Bead Challenge

Deb Benson
Beading, an activity chosen to fill time while caring for her elderly parents 10 years ago, became an obsession for Deb. More recently, she expanded her repretoire to making metal chains when the store needed a chain maille instructor. She teaches a variety of traditional chain weaves as well as her own designs. If you want to learn a weave not listed , contact Deb 21 days prior to class with your request. If the weave pattern is commonly available and you sign up and pay for a class, instructions will be created and the class will be given.

Deb also teaches a basic class in photgraphing jewelry and a class for making charms and pendants with resin.

Byzantine Bracelet, Box and Two-in-Two

Beginners like to learn this weave because it looks hard but isn't. Knowledge of two other weaves comes natuarlly out of learning Byzantine: Box Chain and Two-in-Two. Learn all three in this class.
Box Chain Bracelet

Double Spiral Rope Bracelet

This weave works well as a necklace as well as a bracelet. It's good for a first or second beginning project.

Captive Zen Bracelet

An advanced weave that wears like a bangle when completed.

Chain Wrapped Cabochon
Not for the person who wants precise instructions. Since cabs vary in size, finishing this project takes trial and error. Fun for someone who likes a puzzle.

Dodecahedron

The large version makes a great key ring fob or pendant; the small version, earrings. The patterns are slightly different. Make both in one class.

 European 4-in-1
A beautiful flat weave that can be turned into a round weave by joining the sides. Learn both in one class.
Roundmaille

Full Persian or Foxtail

A beautiful, bold weave that's tricky to start but worth the effort.

GSG (Great Southern Gathering)
A lacy looking weave.

Italian (or Ancient) Chain with Heishi

A favorite with beginners, this bracelet has lots of movement when completed.

Jens Pind

This beautiful chain is recommended for people who love puzzles and a challenge, as experienced chain weavers have found.

Mobius meets Coda Necklace

Combine two weaves into one beautiful necklace that layers well with other necklaces. Deb's Design.

Orbital Chain

Create a "knotty" looking bracelet with this interemediate weave.

Sleek Cuff

This beautiful flat weave by Rebeca Mojica is a combination of European 4-in-1 and European
6-in-1.

Spring Rain Bracelet and Earrings

The addition of large-holed beads to this chain lets you coordinate it with your favorite outfit. Deb's Design.

Three-in-Three Chain

A very easy weave that produces a gorgeous result!

RESIN CHARMS CLASS

Gather up photos, found objects, deconstructed watches and electronics, flat charms, scrapbooking embellishments, flatbacked crystals and scraps of paper. Add them to charm frames, bottle caps, or metal discs to create a mini-collage. Pour on one-part epoxy resin and expose to ultraviolet light. You’ll have a one-of-a-kind charm or pendant ready to enhance a bracelet necklace or key chain.
