Recently, she rekindled her interest in paper, metal, paint, ink, found objects, recycled materials—just about anything that can be made into a purse, wall hanging, collage, book, or assemblage. Start with a used book, work a little magic and, voila! you've created a unique, fashionable little purse that doubles as a piece of art, ready for display. When you peek inside the purse, surprise! Learn the secrets of successful free motion quilting in Mary's Beginning Machine Quilting Class. With a few trick and some practice, you'll be showing off your finished quilts in no time. These little cutimes make great gifts and are the perfect size for your coupons, digital camera, annoying membership cards - you get the idea! Just fill it up, toss it in your purse and accept the compliments on your good taste every time you pull it out. This class is for those of you who like to go a bit beyond the basics. We will be embellishing fabric with tissue paper, paint and rubber stamped images before stitching. Mary has made up kits with almost everything except the fabric, including templates in 3 different sizes, and basic sewing supplies to make it easy to come on in and have a little fun! Now that you're comfortable with free-motion quilting, it's time to move on to advanced techniques. In this class, you'll make a book of samples with a variety of threads, stitches and stabilizers. We'll cover several techniques, including bobbin work and needle lace. Mary will show you how to use them to embellish your quilts and give you ideas for other projects. To make it easy, nearly everything you need for class is either included in a kit or provided by the teacher. Kit fee $25 payable to the teacher on the day of class. Class fee $45. | |
