Second Quarter 2010 Guest Jewelry Artist

SHARILYN MILLER

Sharilyn is a jewelry artist, writer and teacher who loves sharing her passion for jewelry making with others. She is grateful to artist Lynne Merchant for teaching her the basics of making creative jewelry with wire. Prior to learning how to make wire jewelry in September 2001, Sharilyn had explored many other mixed-media artforms, including collage, painting and other surface-design techniques on fabric, handmade books, fiber arts, and beading. But once she learned how to manipulate wire into fabulous jewelry pieces, she was transformed forever! Sharilyn is the author of seven published books, including: 100 Art-Jewelry Inspirations (2009); Wire Art Jewelry (2009); Contemporary Copper Jewelry (2009); Bead on a Wire (2005); Rubber Stamped Jewelry (2003); The Stamp Artist's Project Book (2001); Stamp Art (1999).

Grateful Heart

Thursday, January 7, 10 am - 5 pm
Do you have a "grateful heart"? You can express it beautifully with this heavy-gauge wire necklace, with a large heart-shaped pendant, bead dangles, coil-wrapped beads and more. It's a very intensive class, suitable for students with experience. For instance, you must be able to make a wrapped loop unassisted. But for those of you seeking an intermediate-level workshop, you've found it!

Snake Vertebrae

Tuesday, January 19, 10 am - 2 pm
A "creepy-crawly" bracelet of links that snakes around your wrist... what could be more fun? In this half-day workshop, learn to make a series of links connected with small jump rings in your choice of metals. Pictured above: yellow brass, sterling silver, and copper wire. You'll finish this bracelet with a handmade hook clasp, too. It's a fun class, suitable for students of all levels of ability.

Faux Metals
Thursday, January 28, 10 am - 5 pm
Tuesday, March 23, 10 am - 3 pm
Learn to make beautiful shrink-art charms for necklaces, chokers & earrings using Polyshrink, Lumiere paints, and your favorite rubber stamps. Then we'll learn how to make stunning wire links, jump rings, and beautiful bead dangles to assemble into jewelry. This full-day workshop is lots of fun, and suitable for students of all skill levels.

Gem Cuff

Thursday, February 18, 10 am - 2 pm
Make a gorgeous gemstone encrusted cuff bracelet using sterling silver wire (or copper, your choice) and your favorite gemstones, pearls, silver beads, chips, and other treasures. A handmade clasp finishes this design. This fun, full-day workshop is suitable for students of all skill levels.

Autumn Dance

Saturday, February 20, 10 am - 5 pm
The Autumn Dance necklace can easily
be adapted to brooches and bracelets! Start with a forged wire frame, and embellish it with wrapped beads, chips and charms.
Gorgeous!
